432. The Green Mile (#25)

This week, Frank Darabont’s The Green Mile.

At the turn of the millennium, Paul Edgecomb reflects back on his time serving as chief guard overseeing death row at Cold Mountain Penitentiary during the 1930s. Paul recalls the standard operation of that section of the prison, known as “the Green Mile”, but in particular the arrival of a unique inmate, John Coffey. Neither Paul, nor anybody else on the Mile, have any idea what Coffey’s arrival will herald.

A year after Chucky’s monstrous killing spree, teenagers Jake, Devon and Lexi are trying to get on with their lives. Jake and Devon struggle to maintain their relationship as they move between foster homes, while Lexi tries to numb her trauma through drink and drug. However, on Halloween night, it becomes clear that while Jake, Devon and Lexi might have thought they were finished with Chucky, the killer doll is far from finished with them.

It has been forty years since the night that Michael Myers came home. The killer is in custody and Haddenfield has seemingly recovered from that horrific crime. However, not everybody has been able to move on from those events. Laurie Strode is still haunted by the horrific attacks, convinced the serial killer is lurking in the darkness, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Reconstituted from the remains of the original possessed doll, Charles Lee Ray once again finds himself trapped in a plastic body. Setting out to avenge himself on Andy Barclay, Chucky discovers that his old adversary has been sent to military school. This time, it seems, it’s war.

Desperate to put rumours about their Good Guy Dolls to rest, the company decides to reconstruct the doll at the centre of that horrific incident. Naturally, the doll takes on a life of its own, and Chucky resumes his fixation on the young victim who got away.
