A genre-hopping Second World War revenge western, Quentin Tarantino’s ahistorical epic charts a number of parallel and overlapping plots to assassinate Adolf Hitler at the height of the World War II, drawing together a top British film critic, a German cinema star, a bunch of American Jewish commandos and the sole survivor of the massacre of a Jewish family.

The boys are back in town.
Just in time for Christmas, and at the end of what has been a divisive year, the Scannain crew re-team to talk through the best and worst of film in 2016. Niall Murphy, Phil Bagnell, Jay Coyle and I chat through our top tens of the year, bicker over the relative merits and strengths of the various seasons, and list our biggest disappointments. Just a quick link to another recent guest appearance over on The X-Cast, a great X-Files podcast run by the prolific Tony Black.
In my final appearance on the show’s second season, I had the pleasure of an extended conversation with Tony about One Breath. Readers of the blog will know that One Breath is (along with Never Again) one of my absolute favourite episodes of the show, so it was an honour and a privilege to be invited to talk about it on the show. We got to talk about all sorts of fun things, from Mister X’s grouchy demeanour to performative masculinity to just how carefully Walter Skinner sets up his stylish dead drops.
