Truth be told, I’m a little behind this week. I took a trip down to Sligo at the weekend and I’m preparing for a film noir blogothon next week (stay tuned). So posting this week may be a little… scattershot. Anyway, in a nice way to tie into those wonderful BAFTA poster redesigns from last year, this year we have – courtesy of theshiznit.co.uk – a simple question: what if this year’s Best Picture nominees told the truth, up front? Instead of vague names like Winter’s Bone or Inception or The Fighter… well, that last one’s pretty spot on… but what if the movies just told you everything you needed to know, on the poster? They might look like this…

Those are great. Except the one for The Fighter. I doubt that they’ve seen it because it’s nothing like The Wrestler.
Yep, I think the fact it involves a combat sport and is produced by Darren Aaronofsky made that association for them. It’s nowhere near as soul-destroyingly depressing. I think “Christian Bale looks emaciated… again” might have been a better pithy description.
Ha! That would have MUCH better.
I believe Aronofsky is listed becuase he was the director for several years before he dropped out.
Pretty good ones in there. Agree with Glass about The Fighter one.
I do love Toy Story and Winters Bone. I think they’re great. The Coen Brothers one seems a little… biased. Still, seeing it Friday night, so…
Enjoy! I just saw it last Friday but I will refrain from commenting on it until your non-review đŸ˜‰
Thanks, much obliged. Everyone does seem to love it, though.
